David Bowie, Paris 1973

PHOTOGRAPHER: JUSTIN DE VILLENEUVE

This photograph taken by Justin De Villeneuve in 1973, is a color portrait of David Bowie. This photo was taken in Paris during a photo shoot for Bowie's album "Pin Ups". Justin De Villeneuve wanted to play with the colors of the image to highlight and exaggerate his iridal heterochromia, a disease affecting the color of his eyes. Similar to the other images from this photoshoot. We can again find the effect of a mask around his face which focuses attention on his eyes and intense, leveled gaze.
