Contact Sheet: Twiggy and David Bowie, Pin Ups, Paris 1973
Contact Sheet: Twiggy and David Bowie, Pin Ups, Paris 1973
PHOTOGRAPHER: JUSTIN DE VILLENEUVE
This color contact sheet features supermodel Twiggy and pop rock icon David Bowie. The shoot took place in Paris, where Bowie was working on his new album Pin Ups. Twiggy and the photographer had just returned from their vacation in the Bahamas. De Villeneuve did not expect the models' skin color to be so different, so he and the makeup artists decided to create a mask around their faces in the same shade. This series of photos was initially intended for the British magazine Vogue but ultimately, Justin De Villeneuve decided to give the photos to David Bowie for the cover of his new album Pin Ups at the cost of his relationship with the fashion magazine, who never wanted worked with him again.
