PHOTOGRAPHER: JACQUES OLIVAR

The idea was to imagine an eccentric woman living in an oriental setting, kind of Pierre Loti, the travelling French writer who made his house in France look like a baroque oriental residence. I liked mixing the orientalist touch with the modern modernist vision of Fritz Lang metropolis, so I was looking for the dark and grey NYC buildings rather than the post 60s architecture. This was the first time I met Shannon she showed up as a young Californian college girl with a cool funky way of talking. I never expected she could become the sophisticated woman I was imagining for the story. You forget the girl you met at the beginning to rediscover her at the end of shooting. Funny. That's the magic of great models!
